On May 7 and 8, London's Business Design Centre will host the annual
Picture Buyers' Fair, organized by the British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies.
Over 150 British agencies are among PBF exhibitors, along with multinational companies, including Jupiterimages, Reuters and The National Geographic. Among new products and collections on view will be the first digitized Barnardo's imagery from TopFoto, photographs from Reuters' war-photographer exhibit "Bearing Witness," Alamy's new China portfolio, historic images from Mary Evans' Illustrated London News archive and Fremantle's recently-unearthed pictures of 1960s and '70s pop icons. A number of new image libraries and Web sites are also scheduled to launch during PBF.
In addition to the buyer-targeted exhibits, there is a two-day seminar program for industry insiders. Topics range from legal issues to industry trends, such as "Memory of the Present," at which Reuters vice president of picture development Ayperi Ecer and Getty Images global creative planning director Rebecca Swift will discuss how images create history.
