Canada’s Torstar Syndication Services has launched GetStock.com, claiming that its 10-million-image inventory makes it the largest stock agency in Canada. The imagery comes from Alamy Images, Aurora Photos, TopFoto, IPNstock and Toronto Star Photos, among 21 agency-suppliers and an additional 40 individual photographers.
The company says it offers midstock pricing, but it is more in line with the highest-priced traditional stock. Its online price calculator returned a fee of $320 for the use of a rights-managed Alamy image in an U.S.-market online banner ad for a three-month period.
The parent company believes that what sets it apart is the size of its inventory. Torstar surveyed photo buyers, who said they wanted diversity, depth of content, one-stop shopping and great customer service, all of which GetStock.com aims to deliver.
In business for over 75 years, Torstar provides services to publishers, companies, governments and consumers by licensing and distributing content that includes text, photos and graphics. Torstar is a division of the Star Media Group, which has a number of interests in print, digital and broadcast media, led by flagship property Toronto Star.
